Many people are suffering Mesothelioma with various degrees but the unfortunate thing is that they do not know that they have it. Even after having been diagnosed, some people do not even know what it is or how they were infected with it. After learning that it is caused by asbestos exposure, people still continue to work with asbestos. In countries such as Britain, asbestos has been banned.
Susan tried to remember how she was exposed to it. The irony of it all was that when she was a child, she thought that flakes was snowflakes. But, to her horror, they were actually flaking asbestos from her ceiling. With many others in Britain, Susan is now one of the many who are trying to survive living with Mesothelioma. She, along with the others, have even made videos so that those people who have been exposed to asbestos or are being exposed to it can be made aware that they may have Mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma victims’ rights
Mesothelioma victims are perfectly entitled to file a lawsuit. They can make a claim against the irresponsible companies that have exposed them to asbestos even after the dangers and possible effects were known to these companies. The claim can cover medical bills, pain and suffering, and security for loved ones after the victim has passed away. However, depending upon your location, there are time limits you have to file your lawsuit. You should contact a lawyer as soon as you find out that you have been diagnosed. Otherwise, you may lose the only thing that can give you justice.
If you worked on a shipyard, factory or in another industry that worked with asbestos, you may have inhaled dust or fiber from asbestos causing you to have lung cancer, you may be a Mesothelioma victim. Contact your lawyer now because you have a right to sue those who are responsible for your condition.

Mesothelioma prognosis: a positive view
As of the present, Mesothelioma is one of the deadliest diseases known to men. We can say that Mesothelioma prognosis may be viewed negatively due to the statistics of its victims. Doctors would discuss what the result of this disease may cause a patient. As is with other cancers, traditional treatments such as surgery and chemotherapy are used to treat Mesothelioma. Clinical trials and experimental treatments are also available.
A Mesothelioma patient would have about ten to 11 months to live after diagnosis. But according to experts Mesothelioma prognosis would depend on a patient's age, overall health and type of Mesothelioma the patient may have. Though a permanent cure is yet to be seen, many doctors and patients are not losing hope. The fact is that many other patients have survived the disease though they may be in continuous battle with this disease. They are still hopeful that something good may result from it.

Misconceptions of a Mesothelioma patient
When you are finally diagnosed with Mesothelioma, you would think that being a Mesothelioma patient is that you are entering the final stages of your life, especially if you have been informed that you have already been affected by 90% of the disease. Since many doctors do not inform the patients of what they should do, many Mesothelioma patients think that they can get their life back and continue living as if nothing happened. Because of this misconception, many patients have had a disease rebound which is even worse than when the disease first started out.
Mesothelioma patient actually has a good chance of coping with the disease when they are diagnosed at an early stage. Surgeries may be and will be required. Patients who opt to undergo surgery should make sure that they know what type of surgery it will be. Not all surgeries for Mesothelioma are curative, so be sure that you talk to your doctor about this.

Mesothelioma
There are different Mesothelioma treatment options.
The first option a patient has is surgery. Even in surgery, there is a different approach for you to take. There is a more aggressive surgery called an Extrapleural Pneumonectomy which is an extensive surgery that takes out the lung, the pleura, pericardium, and even the diaphragm on the infected side. This surgery is meant to be curative.
Since this Mesothelioma treatment is an aggressive surgery, there are lots of risks involved. Commonly this type treatment is for younger patients or patients whose illness was diagnosed at an early stage.
As this disease advances, other surgeries can be performed such as palliative surgery. This surgery cannot cure the disease but it can improve the symptoms like the shortness of breath and difficulty in breathing.
Surgery is one of the Mesothelioma treatment options. Other options for treatment also involve chemotherapy and radiation. Whatever treatment a patient chooses to take be sure to be well informed about it.
